The new title for Avatar 3 is Avatar: Fire And Ash.
Avatar creator James Cameron made the announcement this evening at the Disney-centric D23 event in Anaheim, California.
Prior to the reveal of the name, Cameron promised to the crowd that the next film would feature new tribes and biodomes on the moon world of Pandora, which audiences first visited in 2009’s Avatar.
“You will see a lot more of Pandora, the planet, that you’ve never seen before,” he stated. “The new film is not what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want.”
That film, and the first of the four sequels Cameron is making, The Way Of Water, grossed over $5.2 billion at the worldwide box office.
Avatar: Fire And Ash will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Michelle Yeoh, David Thewlis, and Oona Chaplin.
Avatar: Fire And Ash is currently in post-production in New Zealand and is set for a December 19, 2025 release date. Avatar 4 is set for December 21, 2029 and Avatar 5 is scheduled for December 19, 2031.
