Paramount is developing an adaptation of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin graphic novel as a live-action feature.
The Hollywood Reporter is stating that the studio is looking to followup on the success it saw with last year’s animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem feature. Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming action movie Boy Kills World, is handling script duties with an eye on making the film more for older audiences than family fare as the studio is reportedly aiming for an R rating.
This new feature is being adapted from the IDW graphic novel first published as a five issue mini-series in late 2020. The story centers on the last of the four titular heroes on a halfshell as he tries to over throw the despotic ruler of a future New York City, the grandson of the Turtles’ old nemesis Shredder.
Outside of Smith’s involvement, no other creatives or cast have been reported as being involved nor has a release date been announced.
