The fifth season of Inside Amy Schumer, the Comedy Central sketch series revived by Paramount Plus last year, has now been cancelled by the streamer and removed from the service, along with a number of other titles. The removal comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that Paramount Plus was removing Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen Of The Universe as well as a number of low performing titles as it merges with Showtime.
Paramount Plus commissioned a fifth season of the critically lauded sketch series some six years after the final new episode of the show had aired on Comedy Central in what was reported to compete in the Emmy’s various Outstanding Variety Show categories like Program, Writing and acting which usually see nominations from the likes of Saturday Night Live and Last Week With John Oliver.
Inside Amy Schumer debuted on Comedy Central in April of 2013 and during its four season run earned a Peabody Award and had been nominated for twelve Primetime Emmy Awards, winning three – Outstanding Variety Sketch Series and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for its second season and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series for season three.
