Scott Pilgrim is getting ready to fight Ramona Flowers’s seven evil ex-es again.

A new adaptation of the classic graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is on its way. Edgar Wright, who directed the 2010 live action feature adaptation of the comics, has announced on Twitter that an anime version of the story will be coming to Netflix and that the project will reunite the live action cast to voice their characters for this new iteration.

Wright stated that original Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is working on the project alongside writer BenDavid Grabinski and that the show “doesn’t just expand the universe, but also… well, just watch it.”

Although Wright didn’t give a specific premiere date, he did state it was “coming soon,” so presumable it should bow on the streamer some time this year.

Scott Pilgrim centers on the titular twenty-something Toronto slacker who finds himself madly in love with deliver girl Ramona Flowers. She tells him that in order for them to date, he must defeat her previous seven exes in combat. What follows is a delirious mashup of video games and Japanese manga and anime in a series of six graphic novels. Although Wright’s 2010 live action adaptation, starring Michael Cera in the title role and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona, was a hit with fans of the original material, it did not do well at the box office. Since then, the film has found more of an audience through home video.
