Something Is Killing the Children, the popular horror comic by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, is being developed as a series for Netflix.

The series is being developed by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, creators of the series Dark and 1899, as part of the pair’s first-look deal with the streamer. If the series gets the go-ahead, they will serve as showrunners as well as direct the pilot episode.

Premiering in 2019 from indie publisher Boom Comics, Something Is Killing the Children features Erica Slaughter a mysterious young woman who shows up in a small midwestern town that is being plagued by a series of brutal murders of children. While the local police suspect she may be involved, they are only half right. Erica belongs to a secret society that hunts the actual invisible monsters responsible. An immediate hit with readers and critics, Something Is Killing The Children has been one of the very few monthly comic books not published by either DC or Marvel Comics to consistently be in the top 40 titles as ranked by individual issues sold.

This is not the first time Netflix has sought to bring the comic series to the streaming service. Previously, The Midnight Club creators Trevor Macy and Mike Flanagan were working on an adaption though they stepped away from the project over “creative differences” with the streamer.
