Star Trek fans got a new glimpse at the upcoming third and final season of Star Trek: Picard today as Paramount+, the show’s streaming home, debuted a new teaser trailer for the show during the streamers “Star Trek Universe” panel today at New York Comic Con.

The two-and-a-half minute clip unveiled new looks at all the returning Star Trek: The Next Generation cast as well as a few of the holdovers from the previous two seasons of Picard, but also a few surprises including our first peek at the show’s villain as played by Amanda Plummer. You can see for your self below.

With the exception of Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes and Mirina Sirtis’s previous appearances in Picard, this is the first time we are seeing the remaining Next Generation crew in quite some time. It is certainly a moment that fans have been waiting for, and one in which Picard had been building towards since its beginning.

“When we first started, of course the first instinct is to bring back the entire crew of The Next Generation,” stated executive producer Alex Kurtzman on the New York Comic Con stage. “I think we took two seasons to earn that return. What we didn’t want to do was have the crew return and do sort of cameos, we actually wanted everybody to have really significant roles and whet appetites a bit to see them together.”

Series runner Terry Matalas agreed, stating “It was very important to me, first and foremost, that [the series] treads new ground, but [still feel] like a continuation of the stories and arcs set up 30 years ago. There’s a fine line between fan service and just honoring the universe that you’re in. So, I just went full tilt at the things that mattered to me.”

But will this indeed be the last hurray of the Next Generation crew? As the panel came to a close Stewart, with an impish gleam in his eye, said, “To the Paramount people in the room, we could still make a movie!”

The third season of Star Trek: Picard will launch on Paramount+ on February 16, 2023.
