BELFAST And HOUSE OF GUCCI Lead Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominees For Film

House of Gucci

Powerful performances in House of Gucci and The Power Of The Dog have catapulted those two films to the frontrunners positions of this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees.

Lady Gaga’s turn as a manipulative Patrizia who will stop at nothing to keep the wealthy and lavish lifestyle she married into in House Of Gucci earned the actress a nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category, while Jared Leto’s work as Paolo Gucci earned him a nod in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. The film was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch took a Lead Actor nomination and Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit-McPhee took Supporting Actor nominations for the western Power Of The Dog.

Although the academy Awards are voted on by the entire Academy membership and not just those in the acting branch, the Screen Actors Guild are often looked at as a bellwether for how the Oscar race may play out.
