Disney Announces Next STAR WARS Film – ROGUE SQUADRON – With Director Patty Jenkins

Rogue Squadron

The next Star Wars theatrical film will be – Rogue Squadron and it will be directed by Wonder Woman helmer Patty Jenkins.

The announcement was made during the company’s annual Investors Call in which the company rolled out a number of announcements for projects coming in 2021.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy described the film’s story will “introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as the earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary pushing, high-speed thrill ride.”

Previously there was a popular series of Star Wars spinoff novels from author Michael Stackpole. And it sounds as if the film might be drawing some inspiration from those books with Kennedy stating “The legend of Rogue Squadron has long been beloved by Star Wars fans and will move us into a future ear of the Galaxy.”

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron will hit theaters Christmas 2023.
