Disney+ Adding New Star Hub For More Mature Content

Disney will be adding a new hub onto its Disney+ streaming service to be a home for some of its less family friendly content.

Titled Star, after the company’s overseas content distributor, the new hub will join the Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and Nat Geo hubs currently on the streaming service. The Star hub will hold more mature content such as the Die Hard films or the Family Guy television series and be only accessible through a password that will be set by a parental user.

The addition was announced today during the Disney Investors Call in which the company rolled out a number of announcements for projects coming in 2021.

Although not specifically mentioned, it appears that the hub will be the home for much of the content that the studio acquired from its purchase of 20th Century Fox. In the demo of the screens for the hub it featured such films as War Of The Planet Of The Apes, The Kingsmen: The Golden Circle, Die Hard and Alien and television series such as Solar Opposites, Modern Family and Homeland.

The Star hub is set to open up on Disney+ on February 23, 2021.
