No Third Season For Hulu’s CASTLE ROCK

Castle Rock is closing up shop. The psychological horror anthology series based on the writings of Stephen King and airing on streaming outlet Hulu will not be coming back for a third season.

Deadline is reporting that the decision came to end the series a while ago as the show’s producer, Warner Brothers TV, has swung their focus to producing content for corporate sibling streaming service HBO Max. There are no plans to continue Castle Rock at HBO Max.

The series, which takes its name from the locale of many of King’s stories, was a mashup of several of the noted horror author’s works. The show drew elements from and made references to such novels and short stories as diverse as “Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption,” Needful Things, The Shining, Pet Sematary, Misery, Salem’s Lot and more.
