As Yoda famously said, “Always shrouded in mystery, the future is,” and that could certainly to whatever DelRey has up its sleeve for their “Project Luminous.” It was announced at the panel that more specific information about what the story of this multiple format event – which will be spread across Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, IDW Publishing, and Marvel Comics – will center on will be revealed in the new year. Since this will be after the release of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.
What they were able to announce about Project: Luminous were the names of some of the authors involved – Claudia Gray, Justima Ireland, Daniel Jose Older, Cavan Scott and Charles Soule.

Soule was also announced as the writer for the new volume of Marvel Comics’ mainline Star Wars comic launching in January. Soule, who had previously written Marvel’s rather good Poe Dameron series, revealed that the new volume of stories would take place after the events of The Empire Strikes Back. And judging by the three pages of art from the first issue he tweeted out after the panel, he means directly after the end of the movie.
As announced at NYCC, in Jan 2020 Jesus Saiz and I relaunch Marvel’s STAR WARS comic with a new #1.
The story begins just after Empire Strikes Back – first 3 pages below. CHOP!

In addition to the relaunched main Star Wars comic series, Soule will also be writing a mini-series that focuses on who how Ben Solo became corrupted into Kylo Ren, The Rise Of Kylo Ren. Greg Pak will be taking on the scripting chores for the Darth Vader comic, which will also relaunch in January with a new number 1.
Perennial fan favorite Timothy Zahn will be returning to the Star Wars galaxy with a new trilogy of novels titled The Thrawn Ascendency Trilogy. The three books will continue to explore the backstory of the popular Star Wars villain that Zhan introduced in his 1991 novel, Heir To The Empire and featured in the rebooted Star Wars continuity in the previously published Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances and Thrawn: Treason.
