Paul Rudd In Talks For GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

Looks like they’re calling Paul Rudd.

The Ant-Man And The Wasp comic actor is in talks with Sony to join the cast of director Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters reboot according to several trade sources who state that Rudd’s character is “a teacher in a small town.”

In a statement, Reitman said –

I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.

Although no official announcement has been made, it appears as if nearly all of the original Ghostbusters cast – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts – will be back for this new chapter.

Other newcomers to the franchise include Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace and Carrie Coons.

Previously, Rudd had been rumored to as being considered to be one of a quartet of new actors taking over the Ghostbusters franchise in a reboot film that would have seen the original team stepping back into advisory roles for the new comers. Nothing came of this iteration of a franchise reboot and eventually the next Ghostbusters film became director Paul Feige’s female-fronted version.

This new untitled Ghostbusters film is set to film later this summer with a release date for sometime next summer.
