After an almost two-year-long wait, Adult Swim has announced that fan favorite Rick And Morty, will be returning for their fourth season in November.
Well, actually Adult Swim didn’t make the announcement so much as Rick and Morty themselves did.
Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, the show centers on the dimensional and time traveling misadventures of its two title characters. Rick is an amoral and alcoholic scientist and grandfather to Morty, a nervous fourteen-year-old who often finds himself thrust into the role of moral compass for his grandfather. When not hopping dimensions, Rick and Morty live with their family – Beth, Rick’s daughter/Morty’s mom, Jerry – Morty’s dad/Rick’s son-in-law and Morty’s teenage sister Summer. The show’s humor runs the gamut from surrealistic to nihilistic to character-based. It often finds comedic twists on hard science concepts to exploit for laughs while at the same time
Shortly after the show’s third season finished airing in October 2017, it was announced that Adult Swim had ordered 70 new episodes of the series to cover an unspecified number of seasons. As of publication, it is not known how many episodes will comprise season 4.
