Jeremy Renner’s heroic archer Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, is the next Marvel superhero to be getting a short series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+.
Variety is reporting that the streaming service is developing a six to eight episode series that would feature the character Renner has played in numerous installments of Marvel Studios’ Cinematic Universe installments, starting with Thor but most prominently in Avengers and Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
Reportedly, Barton will be serving as a mentor to Kate Bishop, who in the comics took up the mantle of Hawkeye when Clint briefly adopted the codename Ronin. Since we have seen Renner in a Ronin-like costume in one of the trailers for this month’s Avengers: Endgame, it is not surprising that we will be seeing something similar playing out in the MCU.
This Hawkeye series will join the previously comfirmed series that will center on Loki and Vision and Scarlet Witch on Disney’s streaming service. There is also a rumored Flacon and Winter Soldier series in development.
Disney+ is expected to debut towards the end of the year.
