Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Party’s Just Beginning star Karen Gillian will be heading up the cast of the action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake.
The project is from writing/directing duo Aharon keshales and Navot Papushado, the team behind the Israeli hit Big Bad Wolves.
According to the Hollywood Reporter –
[T]he pic is described as being in the assassin genre with a story that spans multiple generations. The entire cast is envisioned as being all-female, with Gillian the cornerstone.
Kill Bill, the opus by Big Bad Wolves fan Quentin Tarantino, and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver are touchstones of the project, with “stylish,” “snappy” and “violent” its watchwords.
Between her work in the Marvel Studios franchise and last year’s Jumanji: Welcome To The jungle, Gillian has been working in some high profile, and highly profitable, projects as of late. Gunpowder Milkshake will be her first test of being able to open up a film not based on a pre-existing property in part on just her name recognition.
Gillian reports for work on the follow up to Jumanji: Welcome To The jungle next month, and should head over to the Gunpowder Milkshake set in Berlin after the Jumanji sequel wraps.
Gillian’s feature scripting and directorial debut, The Party’s Just Beginning, hit home video earlier this month after spending 2018 on the festival circuit. She is currently developing her directorial follow-up, Axe Wound.
