Disney+ ROGUE ONE Prequel Series Finds Showrunner

Lucasfilm has chosen The Americans executive producer Stephen Schiff to head up their announced, untitled Star Wars: Rogue One prequel series that will feature Diego Luna’s character of Cassian Andor.

Schiff is the first announced creative for the series and as a pick for showrunner, he is hard to beat. Performing similar duties on FX’s The Americans, Schiff guided that show’s ongoing storylines about two Russian spies posing as a married couple in the Reagan ’80s. And since this new series is centered on Rebel spy Cassian Andor, we can probably expect a similar level of intrigue and twisty narrative he brought to The Americans.

As this project is barely off the ground, there is not much more to repeat or report. The show is set to appear on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+, but probably not before 2020. But between now and then we still have the other Star Wars limited series The Mandalorian to enjoy when Disney+ launches next year.
