When Warner Brothers started their Monsterverse shard universe with 2014’s Godzilla remake, we knew eventually it would be a matter of time before Godzilla would throw down with King Kong. And that time is no upon us.
Filming has officially begun on Godzilla vs. Kong, the big budget feature that will show us the two giant animals fighting it out.
The studio has given us an official synopsis and a up-to-date cast list. Here is the synopsis:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
The cast includes Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri (Gintama), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Demián Bichir, Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler.
The film is directed by You’re Next and Death Note director Adam Wingard, who is working from a script by Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy writer Terry Rossio.
The film is set to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2020. But if you can’t wait that long to see giant monsters destroying stuff, don’t forget that Godzilla: King of Monsters debuts on May 31, 2019
