If you are a parent like me, your child has probably just got over their overwhelming passion for Frozen and you have just stop listening to the deviously catchy Let It Go on incessant replay. That means it falls on me to deliver some bad news to all of you. Frozen 2 is coming, it will have 4 new songs and one of those songs will be an “evolution” of Let It Go. Get ready for it to start all over again.
Variety caught up with Frozen 2‘s co-director Jennifer Lee at the Ralph Breaks The Internet premiere. Lee has already received one of the songs, the Let It Go evolution and this is what she said about it.
“We have a new song that I think is an evolution. It’s its own song…Bobby [Lopez] and Kristen [Anderson-Lopez] just delivered it three weeks ago. We’ve been working with them for two years and this song just came in and I love it.”
Lee, who is also co-writing the film with Hidden Figures screenwriter Allison Schroeder, says the sequel will have an epic scope and take our heroes far beyond the walls of Arendelle.
Frozen was a global phenomenon that earned over $1.2 billion worldwide and spawned a lucrative amount of merchandising tie-ins ranging from theme park attractions to replica costumes to toys. This might make Frozen 2 seem like a slam dunk prospect, but the last time Frozen pushed its way into our lives, last year’s Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, arrived to mixed reviews and left a lot of toys and other merchandise in the clearance aisles of the local Target and Wal-Mart. So, the powers that be need to bring their A-game for the sequel.
Frozen 2 is set to arrive in theaters on November 22, 2019, a week before its original scheduled date of November 29th.
