Alexander Sarsgard will be facing down some giant monsters in the near future as the True Blood star has signed on to the lead in Legendary and Warner Brothers’s upcoming Godzilla Vs Kong.
Skarsgard joins the already cast Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry and Demian Bichir in what will be the fourth installment of the studio’s giant monster cinematic universe. The series launched in 2014 with Godzilla and followed up last year with Kong: Skull Island. The third installment, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, is due next year on May 31.
Terry Rossio is writing the screenplay based on ideas that spun out of a writers room that the studio set up for the franchise last month which included Lindsey Beer, Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), T.S. Nowlin (The Maze Runner franchise), Jack Paglen (“Transcendence”) and J. Michael Straczynski (creator of the Babylon 5 TV series) and Cat Vasko.
Godzilla Vs Kong is being directed by Adam Wingard and is scheduled for release on May 22, 2020.
