First DARK PHOENIX Trailer Debuts

For a movie that was supposed to be scrapped, it looks very much like Dark Phoenix is coming out.

The first trailer for Dark Phoenix (The “X-Men” appears to be deliberately left off the title) was shown tonight as part of actress Sophie Turner’s visit to The Late Late Show With James Cordon on Thursday morning. So, it looks like Rich Drees was right.

Looking at the trailer, you should feel a wave of nausea nostalgia as it covers a number of the same beats that were cover in X-Men: Last Stand. It looks like this film is keeping the “Professor Xavier has done something to Jean” plot point from that film, which wasn’t a favorite of mine. But with the ominous cover of The Doors “The End” playing over it, the clip does have a sense of menace that fits the storyline.

Here is the trailer so you can see for yourself:

Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019
