If you have been waiting with baited breath to see David Harbour try his hand as Hellboy, you are going to have to bait that breath a little longer.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us the reboot of Mike Mignola’s most famous creation will now hit theaters on April 12, 2019 instead of January 11, 2019. The change puts the film’s release one week after Warners’ DC Comics adaptation Shazam! and Paramount’s Pet Sematary remake and the same weekend as The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle which stars Robert Downey, Jr, Tom Holland and Rami Malek.
Conventional wisdom states that when a film moves back like this, it’s because there are major problems with the film. However, the Hellboy team will be at New York Comic Con next week, and rumor has it they’ll be bring a trailer. That makes it more likely that the due date change was to get the film out of the frozen wasteland that is January and move it closer to the summer blockbuster season, meaning that the change is a good thing.
