If we do any more articles on him, we can officially be classified a Henry Cavill fansite.
It has been a busy day of back and forth involving Henry Cavill’s continued employment as Superman. First was the report that he was most likely done as Superman. Then his manager came out and said that he was most likely not done as Superman, and that Warner Brothers would be coming out with a statement to the effect later in the day.
Well, that statement was released about an hour ago, and, well, a stunning vote of confidence it is not:
“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”
That sounds like something you’d say to a friend that you promised to take to see Weezer, but now want to take your new girlfriend instead. “Dude! I love you! And we’ll do other things in the future, but I don’t know who I’m taking to see Weezer. Maybe Becky”
A more definitive statement would have been, of course, “Henry Cavill is our Superman. Period.” That was the kind of statement I was expecting when Cavill’s manager Dany Garcia hinted he wasn’t done earlier today. But this statement is so non-committal that it sounds like Cavill is already out the door in Warner Brothers’ minds.
More on this as it develops, perhaps even later today.
