Billy Dee Williams Confirmed To Return For STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

What do we have here?

Billy Dee Williams, who joined the Star Wars franchise as the suave gambler and con man Lando Calrissian in 1980’s The Empire strikes Back, will be returning to the franchise for Star Wars: Episode IX, the final installment of the current trilogy of films.

The Hollywood Reporter is confirming Williams’s casting, which had been rumored the last several weeks after the actor had cancelled some convention appearances later this summer citing a conflict with a film job that had arisen.

Episode IX is set to schedule later this summer.

In addition to his appearance in Empire and it’s sequel The Return Of The Jedi (1983), Williams has lent his voice to a number of appearances by the character in various video games and cartoons.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set for a December 20, 2019 release.
