Damian Lewis and Dakota Fanning are topping the list of new cast announcements for writer/director Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
The film is set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969 and focuses on a fictional former TV western star (Brad Pitt) who moves into the house next door to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski right before Tate’s infamous murder at the hands of the Charles Manson Family cult.
Lewis is set to play Hollywood icon Steve McQueen while Fanning will be playing noted Manson Family member Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme.
Also announced as joining the cast are Luke Perry, Emile Hirsch, Clifton Collins, Keith Jefferson and Nicholas Hammond.
Filming is set to start later this summer for an August 9, 2019 release.
Previously, Tarantino had been elusive as to how much of the film would be touching on the Manson murders themselves. But with Hirsch playing celebrity hairstylists Jay Sebring, who was one of four other people also murdered at Tate’s home the same night she was, seems to indicate that that tragic event will form at least part of the narrative.
In addition to Pitt and Robbie, the cast also includes Leonardo Di Caprio, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Michael Masden and Tim Roth.
