After months of negotiations franchise producers EON Productions, MGM has won the domestic distribution rights for the next installment of the James Bond franchise. The studio will also retain digital and worldwide TV rights while Universal will handle international theatrical as well as physical home video distribution.
But today’s announcement out of EON Productions also confirms a rumor that had been strongly circulating these past several months that Trainspotting director Danny Boyle will be directing the currently untitled Bond 25. Unsurprisingly, current franchise lead Daniel Criag’s return for a fifth outing as the iconic British secret agent was also confirmed.
EON’s Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli made this joint announcement –
We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25 installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners MGM and thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.
Bond 25 is scheduled for a UK release on October 25, 2019 and a US release on November 8, 2019.
