So, I guess the rumors of The Eternals film being in the works is true, because Marvel Studios has hired a pair of buzzworthy writers to pen the adaptation.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog has the exclusive that cousins Matt K. Firpo and Ryan Firpo have been tapped to write the script that brings the Jack Kirby creations to the big screen.
The Eternals are a race of humans that were genetically altered centuries ago by the immensely powerful Celestials. They are at war with a race called the Deviants, who were also genetically altered by the Celestials at the same time.
The Firpos shot to the top of the 2017 Black List, the annual survey of most-liked, unproduced screenplays circulating around Hollywood, with their spec script Ruin. That film focuses on a Nazi SS Captain who atones for his crimes by hunting down and killing the former members of his Death Squad. The script has been picked up by Marc Butan’s MadRiver Pictures with Gal Gadot attached to star.
The cousins also have another script in development, Mimi From Rio, a futuristic thriller produced by Ridley Scott and set up at Netflix.
More on this as it develops.
