With Avengers: Infinity War breaking all kinds of box office records, people are now turning to next year’s Avengers 4. While we won’t know much about the movie this soon, one big mystery might have already been solved–what’ it’s subtitle will be.
While titles such as Avengers: Disassembled, Avengers: Reborn, and Avengers: Reassembled have been bandied about, Cosmic Book News says it is 100% certain what the title well be. The title will be:
Avengers: Endgame
The site reported that title as a rumor last week, but writer Matt McGloin says that their rumor was confirmed over the weekend by an anonymous source who works at Disney.
The title does make sense, as “Endgame” is said by one character to another in a standout piece of dialogue near the end of the film.
However, this doesn’t seem to exactly match what the Russo Brothers teased to Bustle last week:
“We do have a name for it, we’re just not announcing it,” says Anthony, speaking alongside his brother. “And I think we came to that name fairly early in the development process. It speaks to the heart of the story.”
That quote leads me to believe that the subtitle would have a little bit more emotional punch that just “Endgame.”
Also, lest we forget, Zoe Saldana let it slip last April that the subtitle would be “Infinity Gauntlet” which was shot down.
I’m sure we’ll find out what the real title is any day now. More as this develops.
