There’s only one film in the new releases this week, but it’s a big one.
1. Avengers: Infinity War (Disney, 4,470 Theaters, 149 Minutes, Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references, Rotten Tomatoes Rating at press time: 88% Fresh [177 reviews]): So, here we are. The end of ten years of build-up. The biggest film in history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The beginning of the end. The place where the status quo will change forever.
Being a comic fan who has lived through a whole bunch of epic crossovers, I’m wary because the end doesn’t always end for long and the status quo changes only temporarily. The MCU is different, because actor whose contracts are over are easier to kill off than drawings on paper.
I’m just hoping for a good film that does service to the story so far. By that Tomatometer, it looks like I’ll get it.
Next week, the new releases offer a remake and two smaller films as sacrifice to the Avengers juggernaut. See you then.
