Gabriel Luna, perhaps best known to genre fans for playing the demonic hero Ghost Rider on the last season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., has been cast in the upcoming Terminator franchise reboot.
Although there has no been no official announcement, The Wrap is reporting the hiring from a source “with knowledge of the project.”
Although the Wrap is reporting Luna’s role as “the lead villian” of the film, the Hollywood Reporter is stating that he will be playing one of the franchise’s titular killer robots.
The Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that Colombian actress Natalia Reyes is joining the project as “a working-class woman in Mexico City caught between humans and machine war.” Reyes joins the cast after an exhaustive, months-long search by director Tim Miller and producer James Cameron to find a Latina actress to play the film’s lead hero role.
Luna and Reyes are joining a cast which already boasts franchise stalwarts Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton and the recently announced Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner: 2049).
The untitled film is set for a November 22, 2019 release.
