Fox has moved two of its high profile summer films — Alita: Battle Angel and The Predator – back several months into the fall season.
The studio is moving Alita: Battle Angel, its adaption of the classic Yukito Kishiro manga from its July 20th release date to December 21. Additionally, Fox has moved The Predator, the Shane Black directed reboot of the science fiction franchise about aliens who come to Earth to hunt humans for sport, back six weeks from its August 3 bow to September 14.
Fox has also picked November 8, 2019 as the release date for Death On The Nile, the sequel to director/star Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie adaptation Murder On The Orient Express.
Moving Alita to December is actually a show of confidence for the film from the studio considering that it will now be up against Warner’s superhero film Aquaman and Paramount’s first Transformers spinoff Bumblebee.
Meanwhile, the move for The Predator now places it in competition with the action film Alpha, the thriller The Darkest Minds starring Mandy Moore and Fighting With The Family, a comedy from Stephen Merchant.
