Grab onto your seats, and hang on tight. It looks like we may be finally getting a sequel to Black Dynamite!
Yesterday, the star of the 2009 blaxploitation spoof tweeted out a short video showing his titular character lighting a bundle of dynamite sticks with the words “Black is back” and “Join us in 2018” superimposed on the screen.

A Black Dynamite sequel has been long promised and long in coming. Back in 2012 White stated that they had hoped to have the follow up in front of cameras by the end of the year. That didn’t happen, but we did get an animated series that reunited the film’s cast which ran on Adult Swim for two years.
So has White reunited with director Scott Sanders and co-screenwriter Byron Minns in secret? In previous interviews, White has hinted that he and Sanders have discussed ultimately a trilogy of films with the other two installments taking the character into different popular 1970s genres to explore for laughs. As you can see in White’s brief teaser, Black Dynamite is smoking a hand-rolled cigarette and has a bandolier of bullets over his shoulder. It certainly suggests a spaghetti western vibe. Hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
