Quentin Tarantino’s Charles Manson film is picking up steam as he will reunite with one of his Django Unchained cast for his latest effort.
Variety is stating that Leonardo DiCaprio has been cast in the project. He won’t be playing Manson, however. His role will be as an aging, out-of-work actor in the film.
The film will be DiCaprio’s first film since his Oscar winning work in 2016’s The Revenant. The actor played the villainous plantation owner Calvin Candie for Tarantino in the 2012 Django Unchained.
DiCaprio is the first big name to sign on for the project. Rumors have been flying that Tarantino has been pursuing Margot Robbie for the role of Sharon Tate, and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence for unnamed roles. The Variety article also states that the director is going after Tom Cruise and Al Pacino as well.
The as-of-yet untitled film is set to be released by Sony on August 9, 2019.
