Even though it is exactly a year away, it’s never too early to get scoop Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2. That’s what we got today, as the official title and cast photo to make us excited to see a film we’ll have to wait 365 days to see.
The new title will be Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It is only two words shorter than Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 but seems a whole lot more manageable.
The cast photo gives an early look at Jude Law, who will be playing a young Albus Dumbledore in the film, and Johnny Depp, who will be playing the titular Gellert Grindelwald, a dark wizard Dumbledore sends Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander to deal with. And, look! It seems Depp has gone back to using hairdressing, make-up and wardrobe to define his character! Oh, that never gets new!
In addition to Redmayne, Law and Depp, the pictured cast includes Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob, Ezra Miller as Credence, and Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange.
David Yates is directing. J. K. Rowling, David Heyman, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram are producing. As I mentioned above, the film is scheduled for a November 16, 2018 release.
