Can’t wait for the next solo Wonder Woman film? Well, now you have six weeks less to wait.
Warner Brothers has announced that the will be moving the superhero sequel from its originally anounced December 13, 2019 release date forward to November 1, 2019. The move doesn’t come as much of a surprise in the wake of Disney moving Star Wars: Episode IX to December 20, 2019 back in September.
The move certainly now gives Wonder Woman 2 some time to dominate at the box office. As of now the next potential genre competition would be an Untitled Fox/Marvel Studios film, most likely an installment in their X-Men franchise, set for November 22.
This past summer the first Wonder Woman film pulled in some $412.6 million domestically and $821.8 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing installment so far in Warner Brothers’ DC Extended Universe superhero franchise.
Wonder Woman 2 will feature the return of Gal Gadot in the titular role of the Amazonian princess with director Patty Jenkins reprising her role behind the camera. If November 2019 is too long a wait to see Gadot in action again, she will be a major part of Justice League which opens Friday.
That’s assuming they can get Brett Ratner’s company removed from the production
