Director Josh Boone has stated that his upcoming X-Men franchise film The New Mutants was more in the vein of a horror film than a standard superhero flick. And one look viewing of the just released first trailer for the film certainly backs up that statement. So much so that I find myself asking why Fox is not releasing the film now in the Halloween season instead of next April like it is currently scheduled.
Barring an actual studio synopsis, we do know that Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga and Blu Hunt star as five young mutants who find themselves captive in a research lab and must try to escape.
The New Mutants opens in theaters on April 13, 2017.
