Fox Puts X-MEN Spinoff GAMBIT Back On Release Schedule

After a rocky and lengthy development process, it looks like Fox is finally moving forward with their planned X-Men spinoff Gambit. The studio has set a release date for the Channing Tatum-starring film – February 14, 2019.

The studio hired Pirates Of The Caribbean director Gore Verbinski to helm the film last week. Verbinski came aboard the project after tenures from both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt failed to get the project in front of cameras.

It looks like Fox is hoping to capitalize on the success that Deadpool had went it opened on Valentine Day’s Weekend in 2016.

Gambit‘s 2019 bow is the first X-Men film that the studio has scheduled for that year. Fox has scheduled three X-Men films for next year – New Mutants (April 13), Deadpool 2 (June 1) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2) – as they continue to exploit the numerous characters they have available to them in the rights to the comic book mutant superhero team.
