If you have social media and are looking for info about Deadpool 2, you really need to follow Ryan Reynolds on Twitter. Last week, he gave us the first look at Zazie Beetz as Domino, and, today, it’s Josh Brolin as Cable.

It is a look that is a lot less shoulder-padesque than the comics, but fits a warrior from the future.
However, what’s the deal with that teddy bear, right? Speculation has already begun that the toy means that Hope Summers will be in the film. In the comics, Hope Summers was the first mutant born after the Scarlet Witch reduced the number of mutants by 90%. Some, namely Bishop, believed the baby would be lead to destruction, and tried to kill her. Cable believed Hope was the mutant messiah and travelled through time to hide her and keep her safe.
This would make sense as a film plot line, as Logan introduces a potential future where the population of mutants has dwindled, only by Professor Xavier’s doing. Tying that film into Deadpool 2 would make for a tighter X-film shared universe.
Or, it could be an item to allow the filmmakers introduce Cable’s parentage (in the comics, he’s the son or Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey). Or it could be a goofy gag to generate laughs. Who knows?
Oh, as a bonus, here is an Instagram from Josh Brolin getting into character.
Brolin is getting scarily into character, isn’t he? Like, terrifyingly into character.
Deadpool 2 is slated to release June 1, 2018.
