We’re a few months away from the release of Thor: Ragnarok and Marvel Studios has whetted our appetite for the threequel by releasing a brand new trailer today during their San Diego Comic Con presentation.
Previously, the film has been described as being something of a buddy movie between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), aka the Hulk. And this new trailer certainly seems to play that aspect up. We also see how, in the face of adversity, Thor does the one thing he learned from his time with the Avengers – he builds up a team to help him tackle the problem. In addition to Banner, Thor recruits his half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) to take on Hela (Kate Blanchette), the Asgardian goddess of death. Judging from the trailer, director Taika Waititi has a nice balance of humor and big action spectacle planned. And is that Hulk fighting the Fenris Wolf?
Here’s the official studio synopsis –
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela (Cate Blanchett). But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – The Incredible Hulk!
Thor: Ragnarok also stars Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Karl Urban and Benedict Cumberbatch. It hits theaters on November 3.
