Trailer: Move Over COFFEE, Here Comes PROUD MARY

If you like blaxploitation films, it looks like you might like the upcoming Proud Mary. The first trailer for the film from London Has Fallen director Babak Najafi definitely feels like a throwback to the 1970s genre, from the leather jackets to the Ike and Tina Turner version of “Proud Mary” blasting on the soundtrack. It certainly looks as if Hidden Figure‘s Taraji P. Henson could give someone like Pam Grier a run for her money.

Here’s the studio’s synopsis –

Taraji P. Henson is Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston, whose life is completely turned around when she meets a young boy whose path she crosses when a professional hit goes bad.

Proud Mary opens January 12, 2018.
