The Broken Lizard guys have been talking about making a follow up to their 2001 breakthrough comedy for some time. Legal issues held the project up for several years, but once those were cleared, the group embarked on a crowdfunding campaign that cleared $4.4 million, more than twice what they were looking for, to make the film. Production commenced in August of last year.
In addition to Chandrasekhar, Super Troopers 2 stars the rest of the Broken Lizard group including Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. Also returning from the first film are Brian Cox, Marisa Coughlan and Linda Carter with Rob Lowe, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tyler Labine and Will Sasso joining the cast for the sequel.
As for when teh film hits theaters, I suppose that they could be telling us any day meow…
