Last evening word broke that writer/director Quentin Tarantino was in the process of developing a film about the infamous murder of actress Sharon Tate by members of the Charles Manson cult in August of 1969. It was reported that Tarantino had just about finalized a screenplay and had begun to meet with some actors, notably Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence, about appearing in the project.
Deadline brings some new news about potential casting, reporting that Tarantino has met with Margot Robbie with the intention of casting the Suicide Squad actress in the role of murder victim Tate.
Additionally, Deadline is stating that Tarantino will likely have a role in the film for his long time collaborator Samuel L Jackson and that the role Pitt is being looked at for is that of a police detective assigned to the murder case.
With Tarantino reportedly looking to take this project out to studios for a co-production/distribution deal sometime after Labor Day, I expect we will see more of these types of reports. Whether they will all pan out for the film’s final cast remains to be seen, but things are looking promising so far.
