Unless you’ve been asleep for 20 years, you know that Spider-Man: Homecoming would lead to more movies down the line, most likely a trilogy. It was pretty obvious but new Peter Parker Tom Holland just confirmed that.
Speaking with Allo CinĂ©, Holland admitted that there will be three films that tell the current version of the character’s story arc.
Of course, the rub here is that Marvel Studios’ partnership agreement with Sony only goes until Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (or whatever it will eventually be called). So, this begets the question: what happens on the third film of the trilogy? Does the agreement get renegotiated for one more movie? For more than one? Or will Sony go it alone for the third film, thank Marvel Studios for their time, and pretend that Spidey isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the trilogy capper.
That last option doesn’t seem logical, but, then again, a lot of things in Hollywood doesn’t seem logical. And considering some of the dodgy decisions Sony has made with the franchise, it wouldn’t be surprising. More on this as it develops.
