Ever since Iron Man, post-credits scenes and superhero films, particularly those from Marvel Studios, have gone hand in hand. So much so, when patrons start to get up as the credits start, I look at them in blind amazement. Well, if those same folks get up at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, they’re going to miss a whole bunch of extra content.
Screen Rant released the news that people at the press screening got to see four post-credits scenes at the end of the film. They naturally reported this to their readers and James Gunn was quick to correct them. I mean, FOUR post-credits scenes? How absurd!
There actually will be five.
@screenrant Well, five, actually. 😊

When you think about it, this amount of scenes makes sense. After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Studios is sailing into some uncharted territory and areas that need quite a bit of set up. Logic dictates that one of the post-credits scenes will set up Avengers: Infinity War. If they keep Captain Marvel‘s origin cosmic-based, they can also set up that with a post-credit scene. Add a denouement for the film you just saw, a set up for the next film, and a gag scene like last time’s introduction of Howard the Duck, you have five scenes.
So start spreading the word now, tell all your friends to stay seat for all the credits!
