Sony dropped an all new trailer for this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming today, and by all new we mean just that. There doesn’t seem to be much, if any, recycled shots from the trailer that the studio released last December. And while most of these scenes certainly look to be extensions of what we have previously seen, they also fill out our knowledge about the film’s plot. And while we have known that this was definitely going to be a part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, the MCU is certainly all over the place in this trailer. We see much more of the relationship between Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), perhaps maybe even a bit too much. Some of that could have been saved for the inevitable third trailer that the studio will release as we get closer to the film’s release date this summer.
Here’s the Studio synopsis –
Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. and opens July 5, 2019.
Too much time in costume with the mask off.
Too much mentor Tony Stark. It’s a fun idea, and I think I’ll enjoy it. But Peter is a self made man, he’s all about being a misunderstood loner, not salvation for a rich drunk.
That being said, I hope Tony nails Aunt May.
