Lizzy Caplan, Michael Pena Face EXTINCTION

Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan are set to star in Extinction, a science-fiction thriller which Universal has just set for release on January 26, 2018.

According to The Wrap, the pair will be starring as a “husband and wife struggling to save their family from an alien invasion.” The script was originally by Spenser Cohen and appeared on the 2013 Black List. Since then, though, it has undergone some revisions by Bradley Caleb Kane and Eric Heisserer. Heisserer just landed an Academy Award nomination for writing last year’s smart science-fiction thriller Arrival, and given how that film smartly handled its themes of family in the context of its science-fiction setting, there is plenty of reason to be looking forward to this project.

Ben Young, who directed last year’s indie crime drama Hounds Of Love, will be calling the shots behind the camera.
