Margot Robbie will be heading to Sherwood Forest. The Suicide Squad actress has just been attached to Marian, a spec script about Robin Hood’s lover that Sony just purchased after an intense bidding war.
Deadine describes the story like this –
After a conspiracy to conquer England in which the love of her life Robin Hood dies before her eyes, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom but will see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.
Marian joins a number of Robin Hood-themed projects that are percolating in Hollywood. Otto Bathurst is currently prepping his Robin Hood for a shoot later this year for Lionsgate. That project stars Taron Egerton in the title role, Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff Of Nottingham with Jamie Foxx as Little John and Eve Hewson as Maid Marion. Disney is currently developing a project called Nottingham & Hood, while the Wachowskis are reportedly developing a modern version of the story titled Hood.
Robbie is currently shooting I, Tonya, a biopic about disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding.
