If you have been waiting with baited breathe to find out who will host the Oscar ceremony next year, you can resume breathing regularly. It was announced today that it will be Jimmy Kimmel.
This will be Kimmel’s first time hosting the ceremony, but he has spent some time in the “minors” hosting the ESPYS, the American Music Awards, and the 2016 Emmy Awards.
Kimmel’s talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, is house directly across the street from where the Oscars are handed out and does a post-Oscar ceremony every year with winners and presenters from the Oscars. I’d imagine that the producers of both show are working on a bit where Kimmel leaves the Kodak Theater when the Oscars end and walks across the street to begin his own show.
The Oscars will air on ABC on February 26, 2017.
