It’s just a little over two months until the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first Star Wars film to be set outside the main saga about the Skywalker family. It’s a big galaxy, but the narrow focus of the films have never really much more than hinted at the wider canvas against which these events are playing out. The latest trailer for Rogue One reveals more of the worlds and those fighting for freedom besides Luke, Leia, Hand and the rest – from the smashed remains of a Jedi statue to a family torn apart because the Empire needs someone to build them a superweapon.
