Benicio Del Toro could be starring in writer/director Shane Black’s upcoming reboot of the Predator franchise. Deadline is reporting that the actor is currently in early talks to headline Fox’s in development relaunch of the classic science-fiction franchise.
Of course, there’s no word as to what the particulars of Del Toro’s role will be. Our guess is that he will either be hunted by or go hunting one or possibly more of the alien predators. Perhaps both. We fell safe in this prediction.
Shane Black came on board the project back in June 2014 with writer Fred Dekker added on to write the screenplay. Black had done some uncredited rewrites on the first film – a gig which also landed him in front of the camera as one of the mercenaries being stalked through a South American jungle by the titular alien hunter. Dekker, of course, has written with Black before on the cult hit The Monster Squad.
Predator is currently scheduled for a March 2, 2018 release.
