Dope actress Kiersey Clemons is in the “top choice” to play the female lead in Warner Brothers’ upcoming The Flash superhero film. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as Dope director Rick Famuyiwa is helming this installment of the studio’s interconnected superhero franchise.
Variety is breaking the news, though it does state that the studio had no official response. According to insiders, the character Clemons will be playing “is likely to be Iris West, the tough-as-nails journalist and friend of Barry Allen, the alter ego of the Flash.”
Production on the film is expected to start later this year, a date the project was in danger of not meeting due to the departure of original director Seth Grahame-Smith over the ubiquitous “creative differences.” Grahame-Smith’s screenplay, based off an outline by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, will still serve as the template for the film.
Ezra Miller stars as the superfast superhero and was already introduced in last spring’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. He will next be seen in next summer’s Justice League before his solo movie spins off.
